We are excited to announce Solano County’s all Virtual Youth Resiliency Summit is officially open for registration!

The Youth Resiliency Summit is open to all middle and high school students grades 6 -12 residing or attending school in Solano County. The summit will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, will cover a wide range of workshops on topics affecting youth and their community as well as develop skills that strengthen resilience and create positive change. The summit will also host fun activities, raffles and prizes and more! The first 100 students to register will receive a box filled with fun conference supplies!

WORKSHOPS

Workshops will be hosted by adults and youth and will cover a wide range of topics including:

  • Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Prevention
  • Mental Health and Wellness
  • Social Justice and Equity
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Human Trafficking
  • Healthy Relationships and Teen Dating Violence
  • and more!

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Ashanti Branch

Ashanti, born and raised by a single mother on welfare in Oakland, California, Ashanti left a lucrative career in civil engineering when he discovered a true passion in teaching while tutoring struggling students. In 2004, as a first-year teacher, Ashanti started the Ever Forward Club to provide a support group for African American and Latino males, who were not achieving to the level of their potential. Since, then The Ever Forward Club has grown to serve both young men and women and become a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The Ever Forward Club has helped 100% of its member graduate high school and 93% of them have gone on to attend college. Ashanti is on a mission to change the way that students interact with their education and the way schools interact with students.

Javier Sanchez

Artist, poet, rapper, and motivational speaker, Javier is recognized both nationally and internationally as a leader in developing effective strategies for youth and community mobilization. His experience and expertise come from more than 20 years of work with the Youth to Youth International Program. He believes that change for the better in our world, our, our country, our communities, and our schools isn't just happening to young people, it's happening through them. Javier specializes in helping teens and their adult allies develop strategies for relevant, effective, and sustainable community impact. He uses the "by youth, for youth" approach to create cutting-edge health and wellness messages and communication strategies that effectively reach and engage our most disenfranchised communities and vulnerable populations.

The Youth Resiliency Summit is part of the Art is Power Series is sponsored by the Solano County Office of Education, Solano County Public Health, Fighting Back Partnership, Safe Quest Solano, Nature of Sound, and the Solano Youth Coalition.
