FUNDING ALERT: California Youth Tobacco Survey

The California Department of Public Health, California Tobacco Prevention Program (CDPH/CTPP) released Solicitation EVAL 24-10147 California Youth Tobacco Survey on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

The purpose of this Solicitation is to request competitive proposals from eligible experienced agencies to conduct a biennial, school-based, probability survey of California youth on tobacco use behaviors and attitudes. Tobacco use behaviors may include, but are not limited to, product use, dependence, susceptibility, access, and secondhand exposure. Surveillance will also include limited attitude, opinion, and co-morbid substance use questions, primarily as they relate to patterns and predictors of tobacco use (e.g., flavor perceptions, social norms). Services include: recruiting schools to participate; developing a sampling framework; developing data collection instruments; programming, cognitive testing, pilot testing and administering surveys; data management; data cleaning and weighting; data analysis; creation of the California Youth Tobacco Survey (CYTS) statewide report and county profiles; and disseminating major findings.

The contract term is anticipated to be from April 1, 2025 through June 30, 2029. It is anticipated that up to $4,000,000.00 is available to fund the activities required for the contract term.
