Funding Opportunity: Tobacco Regulatory Science Small Grant Program (R03)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH), in partnership with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is offering funding through the Tobacco Regulatory Science Small Grant Program (R03).

This opportunity supports early-stage investigators conducting small-scale research that generates evidence directly relevant to FDA tobacco regulatory actions under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.

Projects may address tobacco product characteristics, addiction, toxicity, health effects, behavior, health disparities, or the public health impact of emerging products. The funding mechanism is well suited for piloting innovative research ideas, strengthening research capacity, and building toward larger federal funding opportunities.

Awards provide up to approximately $75,000 in total costs for a project period of up to two years.

The opportunity remains open, with the next application deadline scheduled for July 14, 2026. Full eligibility details and application instructions are available on Grants.gov.
