Tracy Brown

Born and raised in San Francisco, CA, Tracy Brown is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer and seasoned visual artist who received her MA in Arts Politics from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. For many years, Tracy has been dedicated to sharing and promoting positive images of individuals of African descent.


Tracy co-curated the Smoke and Mirrors exhibition which explored the devastating effect the war on drugs has had on Black and Brown communities. Her independently curated show Same Game Different Smokers: A look at Tobacco Industry’s Effect on Black Lives and Black Lungs was on view at the San Francisco Main Library for an extended run from 2019-2021. Recently, Tracy participated in the recent exhibition Don’t Shoot, An Opus of the Opulence of Blackness. Her work has been exhibited at the California African American Museum, The MOAD, SOMArts, The African American Art and Culture Complex and numerous private galleries and public art venues in places like Chicago, Detroit, Brooklyn, and Beijing. Additionally, her work is held in the permanent collections of The City of Oakland and the California African American museum.


As a Capacity Building Consultant, Tracy has helped grassroots organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area to gain the skills they need to bring their creative and Social Justice visions into fruition. She also assists with the creation and execution of strategic plans, process improvement, grant management and much more. Her work continues today with artmaking as well as creative, administrative and technical support for creative and cultural organizations, art exhibition/experience curation and hosting of community-based educational presentations.
