African Coalition (Keep Our Lungs Safe )

Keep Our Lungs Safe is to reduce tobacco-related disparities health disparities and make

gains toward health equity among African immigrant/refugee and African American/Black

populations in Los Angeles County, California, through collaborative, regional approaches

directed towards policy change and community education.

Keep Our Lungs Safe's partners, in collaboration with a Youth Coalition from targeted

jurisdictions in Los Angeles County (Inglewood, Gardena, Compton, Hawthorne, Carson,

Lancaster, and Palmdale) will engage in activities to facilitate the adoption and/or

implementation of smoke-free multiunit housing (MUH), smoke-free campus policies with

faith-based organizations, and restriction of sale and/or distribution of flavored tobacco

products and menthol cigarettes policies.
