ALAC San Bernardino Office (Smokefree San Bernardino)

About This Partner/Organization

The ALAC Smoke-free San Bernardino Project goal is to eliminate a number of

tobacco-related disparities within the community, with a primary focus on Latinos and

people of low socioeconomic status, both of whom are impacted by high rates of tobacco

use and disproportionate exposure to secondhand smoke. Together with residents in the

San Bernardino County communities, the project will work towards the reduction of

exposure of secondhand smoke, tobacco waste, and tobacco use through the passage of

policies prohibiting smoking and use of electronic nicotine delivery devices in outdoor

recreational public areas such as parks in at least two cities in San Bernardino County. In

addition, the project will work towards the adoption of a tobacco retailer licensing policy to

reduce youth access to tobacco products in at least one city in San Bernardino County.

This policy will help keep tobacco out of the hands of children and increase the likelihood

of never developing a lifelong addiction tobacco.
