Calaveras County (Calaveras County Tobacco Prevention Program)

About This Partner/Organization

The Calaveras County Tobacco Prevention Program serves a rural area in the Sierra

Foothills with a population of 45,578. The program works to create tobacco-free living,

working, and recreational areas in the county. The focus of the program is to reduce

exposure to secondhand smoke, reduce youth access to tobacco, and promote quit

services. The program has four objectives for the anticipated 2017-2021 work plan: 1)

form at least four collaborative partnerships with youth and adult representatives from

youth serving organizations in Calaveras County to build youth capacity, and engage

partners in activities that address tobacco control issues in the county, 2) a mental health

or substance abuse program will adopt a smoke-free outdoor area policy and provide

cessation referrals to the California Smokers' Helpline, 3) the City of Angels Camp will

adopt and implement a tobacco retail license, and 4) build coalition capacity.
