California Health Collaborative - Chico (Si Se Puede - North Valley Region)
About This Partner/Organization
The Si Se Puede project is administered by the California Health Collaborative, a
non-profit health education program located in the North Valley Region. The major goals
of the Program are to address health inequities suffered by the Hispanic / Latino
community throughout the North Valley Region of the State, by reducing the availability
and promotion of menthols and flavored tobacco products in jurisdictions with a
predominant Hispanic / Latino population; reducing the community’s exposure to
secondhand smoke at outdoor venues such as swap meets and farmer’s markets; and
promoting culturally and linguistically smoking cessation throughout a variety of agencies
that have a high Hispanic / Latino client load such as First 5 programs, Migrant Housing,
and County Public and Behavioral Health. Strategies to accomplish these goals include
recruitment and training of members from the Hispanic / Latino community to address the
disparities suffered by the community, healthy retail policy and outdoor secondhand
smoke education for policy makers and other community stakeholders, smoking cessation
policy development assistance for service providers, and technical assistance and use of
Spanish language print and radio media.
