Help Central Inc (Butte-Glenn 211 Tobacco Cessation Project)

About This Partner/Organization

The Butte County Air Quality Management staff is dedicated to improving air quality in the county. They work with the community to promote understanding of air pollution issues through planning, regulation, enforcement, technical innovation, and public education. The air in Butte County does not meet state or federal health-based standards for ozone or fine particulate matter (PM2.5), which can cause respiratory issues, damage plants, and degrade manufactured materials. Ozone is an invisible pollutant formed by chemical reactions in sunlight, reaching its highest levels in summer. PM2.5, a complex mixture of soot, smoke, metals, toxins, nitrates, sulfates, dust, and tire rubber, has been linked to health problems such as decreased lung function, aggravated asthma, chronic bronchitis, and premature death in people with heart or lung disease.
