Kings County (Kings County Tobacco Control Program)
About This Partner/Organization
The Kings County Tobacco Control Program will focus on the following initiatives during
the 2017-2021 workplan:
Program staff will work on adoption of a smoke-free policy in one jurisdiction for market
rate apartments. Kings County has the second highest poverty rates in the Central Valley
and a high smoking rate of 17.8%. For these reasons, the Kings County will focus on
reducing exposure to secondhand smoke in multiunit housing (MUH) as low
socio-economic status (SES) populations are more than likely renters in MUH and a great
percentage would be protected from secondhand smoke by working on this objective.
