LA CADA (Allen House Tobacco Disparities Program)
About This Partner/Organization
Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (L.A. CADA) will conduct a Wellness
Quality Improvement Project (QIP) at our 60-bed Allen House residential treatment facility
in Santa Fe Springs, CA -- a program that serves adult men and women throughout Los
Angeles County. The project goal is to reduce tobacco use and promote wellness policies
and activities among disadvantaged, low-income people with substance use (and
co-occurring mental health) disorders. Allen House clients are primarily persons of color
(65% Latinx and 17% African American), including the homeless, LGBTQ individuals,
persons recently released to treatment from jails, prisons and the courts, and persons
living with HIV. Our project goal will be accomplished via adoption and implementation of
tobacco-free campus policies, evidence-based nicotine addiction treatment, and other
wellness policies/systems change that support tobacco use cessation for L.A. CADA’s
residential treatment clients.
