Madera County (Madera County Tobacco Control)
About This Partner/Organization
The Madera County Tobacco Control Program strives to keep all Maderans healthy by
reducing exposure to secondhand and thirdhand smoke and reducing youth access to
tobacco by conducting tobacco control services. For the 2017-2021 work plan, Madera
County will 1) work with at least one jurisdiction Madera County to adopt and implement a
policy to restrict or eliminate the sale and distribution of mentholated and/or all flavored
tobacco products; 2) will recruit, engage at least 6-10 youth in local tobacco control
activities; 3) will amend existing tobacco and smoking definitions to include the burning or
heating of tobacco products and other natural or synthetic products; and 4) adopt and
implement a policy prohibiting smoking and tobacco use in public parks. In addition to
completing these objectives, the Madera County Tobacco Control Program will continue to
be a community resource in Madera County on tobacco related issues for individuals,
educational institutions, community-based organizations, and businesses.
