Mooretown Rancheria (Mooretown Rancheria Smokefree Youth)

The Mooretown Rancheria Smokefree Youth program will take place on the tribal lands of

the Mooretown Rancheria of Maidu Indians located in Oroville, CA. The mission

statement for Mooretown Rancheria is, “To improve the quality of life for our members,

employees and the community in which we live, by preserving our cultural heritage,

maintaining a positive Native American image, protecting tribal sovereignty, and

supporting tribal self-reliance”. The program will be implemented by its Social Services

department which works closely with Member Services and Educational Services. This

project will help to develop community capacity and leadership skills within our Native

youth to form a Native Youth Alliance which will be involved in all aspects of program

development and implementation and for which will result in positive community and

social norm changes.
