NCADD-OC (Tobacco Intervention Project Orange County)

About This Partner/Organization

The Tobacco Intervention Project-Orange County’s (TIP-OC) focus is on reducing

secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure for community members. The primary focus is on

working toward passing a smoke-free outdoor dining ordinance in the city of Anaheim.

The project is also working toward voluntary policy adoption for smoke-free/vape-free

mental health and substance abuse facilities across Orange County. TIP-OC is also

focusing efforts on creating a voluntary policy designating homeless shelters and

transitional housing as smoke-free/vape-free on 100% of the property 24/7 in the cities of

Anaheim, Fullerton, and Santa Ana. TIP-OC will: · Work with low income and

Hispanic/Latino populations as well as homeless and those with mental health and

substance use disorders · Educate restaurant owners and shelter staff on the harm of

smoking and SHS exposure · Train peer educators to work with the business owners to

gain community support · Work with local community representatives to promote

awareness of the dangers of SHS · Raise awareness through key informant interviews,

community press releases, print advertisement and educational presentations
