Orange County (OC Tobacco Use Prevention Program)

About This Partner/Organization

The Orange County Health Care Agency Tobacco Use Prevention Program (TUPP)

serves a jurisdiction comprised of over 3 million residents in 34 cities, as well as

unincorporated areas. According to data from the California Health Interview Survey

(CHIS), Orange County’s adult smoking prevalence was 10.8% over 2014-15, which was

lower than both the statewide (12.4%) and national (17.5%) rates. Since 2011, the adult

smoking prevalence rates have decreased by approximately 16%, down from 12.9% to

current levels (CHIS, 2015). Despite such favorable tobacco control conditions, Orange

County has experienced significant disparities.
