Plumas County (Tobacco Use Reduction Program (TURP))

About This Partner/Organization

The Plumas County Tobacco Use Reduction Program (TURP) seeks to prevent and

reduce tobacco use to Plumas County residents through community level education and

advocacy, policy and health equity work, and building and maintaining partnerships to

further these efforts. Using these strategies, TURP objectives for the 2017-2021 project

period are to reduce availability of flavored tobacco, and foster a healthier retail

environment in our communities; work with local health jurisdictions to increase the

number with comprehensive smoke free campus policies; collaborate with local parks,

government, federal government and local tribes to increase the jurisdictions that have

comprehensive smoke-free outdoor recreational policies' and work with youth to increase

their tobacco control advocacy skills and knowledge.
