Santa Barbara County (Tobacco Prevention Program (TPP))

About This Partner/Organization

Santa Barbara County Public Health Department's Tobacco Prevention Program serves

as the Local Lead Agency (LLA) for tobacco prevention and control efforts countywide.

During the 2017-2021 workplan, our program has three objectives: 1) At least one

jurisdiction in Santa Barbara County (e.g., City of Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Lompoc

and/or Solvang) will adopt and implement a comprehensive outdoor policy that restricts

the use of tobacco products at three or more of the following areas: outdoor dining areas,

entryways, public events, recreational areas, or service areas. 2) At least two jurisdictions

in Santa Barbara County (e.g., City of Santa Barbara, Lompoc or City of Santa Maria) will

amend or adopt a policy requiring retailers that sell tobacco products, including electronic

smoking devices (ESD), to be licensed and to designate a sufficient portion of the license

fees for administration and enforcement and/or will limit the location of new tobacco retail

outlets within 1,000 feet of K-12 schools. 3) The Santa Barbara (SB) County Coalition

Engaged in A Smoke-free Effort (CEASE) will recruit at least 2 new members annually

and maintain 8 existing/active members, representing diverse and non-traditional

partners. At least 65% of active CEASE members (8-16) will participate in 2 tobacco

control activities annually as identified in the coalition membership guidelines.
