Shasta County (Tobacco Education Program (TEP))

The Shasta County Tobacco Education Program (TEP) will address tobacco control by

collaborating with the multi-topic local Healthy Stores for a Healthy Community workgroup

to limit the availability of tobacco. This work will promote a legislated policy in one

jurisdiction within Shasta County to amend the existing city zoning code to require a

conditional use permit (CUP) for tobacco retailers and/or Electronic Smoking Device

(ESD) retail outlets. Interventions will include development, promotion, scheduling, and

coordination of presentations and trainings designed to promote a CUP to a variety of

community partners and organizations, including retail partners.
