Stanislaus County (Stanislaus County Tobacco Prevention Program)
About This Partner/Organization
The Stanislaus County Tobacco Prevention Program serves as the Local Lead Agency for
Stanislaus County. The major goals of the program are to assist jurisdictions in the
adoption of tobacco and/or healthy retail policies that include monitoring of retailer
compliance with Federal, State, and local tobacco sales laws, reduce exposure to
secondhand smoke in Public Housing and outdoor recreational areas, and mobilize adults
through partnership building and tobacco control activities. Strategies to accomplish these
goals include extensive data gathering to clearly identify the issues and determine
strategies, strategically building the capacity of the Tobacco Control Outreach and
Prevention Services Coalition (TOPS) through the development and expansion of
non-traditional partnerships, through which further community support can be garnered,
secondhand smoke and retail policy education for policy makers and other community
stakeholders, and technical assistance for building comprehensive tobacco control
policies.
